Greetings!
Our 2009 Campaign is headed for the finish line!  We kicked off our campaign in September and are wrapping up December 31st.   As we approach the finish line, we wanted to share with you what is going on at our United Way.  We appreciate your support of our United Way - we'll see you in the Winner's Circle!

2009 Campaign
CRUZE to the finish! Our 2009 Campaign has raised $748,288 or 30% of our $2.5 million goal

We have several goal thermometers in the community showing our progress.  Special thanks to Tony DiTommaso, Carpenters LU 171, who not only built the thermometers but played an instrumental role in organizing the inaugural project.

The thermometers were put up as a project for our 12th annual Day of Caring on September 11th.  Assisting Tony were Rabb Marinelli, Plumbers & Pipefitters LU 396; and UAW Local 1112 Community Service Committee.

Why Should Your Company Do a Workplace Campaign?
One out of every four people in the Mahoning Valley receive services from a United Way funded program.  Plus, the money raised stays - every program funded by our United Way is in the Mahoning Valley.

Local companies can support our United Way through workplace giving.  This allows employees to make a contribution through payroll deduction.  It's easy, and together, employees can make an impact in our community.

Stuff the Bus Update
Stuff the BusThe 1st annual United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley Stuff the Bus Project was a great success!!
Over 180 book bags filled with school supplies were distributed to children in need in the Mahoning Valley.

Special thanks to V&M Star for their donation of $2,500 to the project.  Through this generous donation, funds were given to Youngstown, Struthers, and Campbell schools to purchase school supplies for their students.  These three schools were chosen because they have the highest poverty rate in the Mahoning Valley.

Thank you also to the following who made the Stuff the Bus project possible: AFL-CIO Community Service Committee, American Red Cross, AT&T Boardman Call Center, Austintown Infocision, Christopher & Banks, C.J. Banks, Huntington Bank, Jewish Community Center, Knoll Run Golf Course, UPS, USPS, V&M Star, YMCA...and all of the generous people in our community who made donations to the project at the collection sites.  THANK YOU! You have helped bring smiles to students in the Mahoning Valley!
